Product design and engineering encompasses the comprehensive and strategic approach of designing, developing, and refining a product, from its initial concept to its eventual manufacturing. By integrating diverse disciplines such as design, engineering, and technology, product engineers collaborate synergistically to create innovative and commercially viable products. Their key focus areas include enhancing functionality, performance, quality, and user experience, all while navigating the challenges of cost and manufacturing feasibility.

STEP 1 OPPORTUNITY ANALYSIS AND DEVELOPMENT PLANNING

We work with our clients to clearly understand and decipher the key value drivers of your new product, recognize your commercial realities and distill them into a detailed development plan options for your review & approval

Our research team defines the market, needs, and adoption models, then develops detailed development plans with time-to-market and investment options for your review and selection.

STEP 2 REQUIREMENTS DEFINITION AND DEVELOPMENT

Requirements Definition involves collaborating with customers to identify necessary features and functions, translating these into detailed product requirements for our design team

During this phase, our team collaborates with customers to define the system's functional capabilities and non-functional properties, ensuring it meets user needs and project goals. This includes setting quality and reliability acceptance limits

STEP 3 CONCEPTUAL DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

Concept design is about translating the product requirements into viable product concepts to test and optimize with customers and your businesses operational capabilities

During this phase, we focus on the product's overall styling and functional details. Our industrial designers and engineers collaborate with customers, presenting ideas through sketches, renderings, CAD models, and rapid prototypes. Prototyping helps us understand customer preferences on the product's appearance, functionality, and performance before investing in costly tooling

STEP 4 DETAILED ENGINEERING AND DESIGN OPTIMIZATION

Our mechanical, electrical, and software engineers use structured methodologies to ensure quality and reliability are designed into your product, consistently meeting performance, manufacturing productivity, serviceability, and cost targets

Our engineers develop and analyze designs to meet functional, performance, and cost requirements. We use disciplined processes such as FEA, CFD, Design for Six Sigma, Robust Design, and Design for Manufacturability, Assembly, and Serviceability methodologies to ensure success.

STEP 5 PROCESS DEVELOPMENT AND OPTIMIZATION

We use a disciplined and methodical approach to equipment design, material quantification, methods development, and people training to ensure robust processes are designed into your test and manufacturing assembly systems

Our team of experts will work with your organization to develop robust processes throughout your products lifecycle – ensuring robust processes are always present in your production environment. Our focus is to develop scalable processes that can be transferred into your test and assembly equipment designs that are insensitive to normal input variations

STEP 6 DESIGN VERIFICATION AND MANUFACURING SCALE UP

Product test systems, component metrology in process inspection systems is a critical part of any products success. Cost, quality, reliability and a products serviceability are developed concurrently with the product.

During this phase, our team develops the test and assembly systems needed to ensure the robust processes and quality test methods developed during earlier phases are scaled into the production level systems needed to produce the product. We also validate the product produced from these systems meets the defined product, quality and manufacturing requirements.
